Welcome all to
“A living series talk”
Alan Freedman (Rabbi )
He is a man with an enormous heart and a human being whose enthusiasm for giving shows in a myriad of venues and ways. His passions are many:
Seeing legislation enacted to ensure dignity and preservation for all of GOD’s animal creations. Alan and Fran (Wife) co-founded a no-kill animal sanctuary 11 years ago. True, effective changes providing equality and meaningful resources for the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgendered (GLBT) community on a global basis. He has a zeal for a specialized focus on the aging GLBT community and the at-risk GLBT youth “on the street.”
Honest protection of all natural legacy treasures, to include a sound sustainable policy toward our environment.
Capitalism with a heart that provides equal opportunity for everyone to become the highest and best that they can be. A world view of abundance, where there are no losers, versus one of scarcity, where competition and greed predominates.
Creating written works (like the one in your hands, for instance) that are designed to challenge the reader to embrace and experience dramatic positive life-change, oftentimes by questioning the status quo and what they have held to be true as to a number of high-profile and impassioned issues. A system to impact the world for good, with his vast experience from advising his financial and estate planning clients. Alan’s clients are always also his friends.
Reading great literary works that continually motivate him to challenge what he thinks he already knows. Camping with Fran and their dogs (2 at a time mind you) in their motor home in breathtaking Durango, Colorado. Taking his dogs for a casual walk, where he can simply talk and commune with the GOD within. Preparing delicious gourmet meals for Fran and their family and friends. Last but not least, his beautiful grandchildren.
Alan and Fran live in Cornville, Arizona.
Alan can be reached by writing to him at:

I truly hope that you’ll walk with me as together, we arouse the courage within to challenge ourselves to question what we think we already know and to invite others to join us. Together, we can change the world.

Hi Alan, thank you for agreeing to this interview.
Tell us a little about yourself?
Hello Kaur and thank you for this opportunity. I’ve been a business owner in both Canada and the United States for about 47 years and consider myself to be a lifelong student of life and life-change. I’m a voracious reader and one who is constantly challenging and questioning the authenticity of things held to be true as to any number of life themes.
My life partner Fran and I have been together for over 35 years and have 6 children. We also have 7 4-legged angels in our family. Obviously we’re passionate animal lovers. I had the great joy of co-founding Morning Starr Animal Sanctuary in 2001 which has evolved into a low cost spay/neuter clinic.
My life passions are:
-supporting legislation that ensures the dignity and preservation for all of The Divine’s animal creation
-advocating for equality insofar as the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-gender communities are concerned on a global basis
-supporting legislation that ensures the preservation of our natural legacy treasures worldwide including a sustainable policy toward our environment
-Capitalism with a heart – a system that provides real opportunity for all to be the best they can be, one where there are no losers,
-Writing books designed to challenge the reader to embrace and experience dramatic positive life-change, oftentimes by challenging the status quo and what is held to be true as to a number of high=profile and impassioned issues
My inspiration mostly comes to me when I closely embrace moments of deep solitude and simply invite The Divine to do a download into my heart. God is a friend of the quiet!
You did say a little about myself, didn’t you? My apologies! I think our readers get the point!
It’s my pleasure to meet you Alan and the real purpose of this series is that our readers can know more about the authors, their struggle stories and the journey so far. Hence when I ask tell me more a little about yourself is justifiable, taking our walk further what have you written?
The Walk and My Weekly Walk
Reflecting on both books, 2 of my quotations come to mind – “If everything you now believe to be true were a lie, when would you want to know?” and “He/she who needs to be right, is in a prison of their own creation!” Both books address a number of our world’s most polarizing and impassioned themes! When I asked people why they believe what they say they believe regarding these life altering themes, most really didn’t know! Essentially, they had adopted the views of others. The condition of our world demands that we know why we believe what we say we believe, and in many cases, change our view! We desperately need a clean slate, a starting from scratch! The old ways have been tried in the Divine court of jurisprudence and found horrifically wanting! The Walk and My Weekly Walk does a deep dive in these areas. The teachable open-minded reader can’t help but come away with a spiritual heart transplant – a Divine download In addition, I write a monthly blog that goes live the first Sunday of every month at 2:00 PM Arizona time. It’s free to subscribers (www.thewalkbook.com) and like my 2 books, are written to inspire real and enduring positive life-change.
Incredible and inspiring too.
So do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured?
That’s a great question! I have a structured 2 hours in my calendar every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, an appointment with me I take very seriously! If I didn’t, my books would never get written. This is a critical discipline for any “wanna be” author!
I do agree with you Rabbi.
Abundance of willpower and discipline can contribute fascinating performance.
Well please let our readers know your writing strategy do
you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just see where an idea takes you?
As I mentioned earlier, I try to stay open to the leading of The Divine Spirit, relying upon a quote of mine – “The voice of the Divine is always speaking to those who are prepared to deeply listen!” I’ve never been disappointed maintaining this approach and don’t expect to!
That’s great and sounds blissful.
Yes, perhaps the great motivating force that drives everyone of us is God and I often say God my serenity weaver. Well, let’s walk towards the road to reality check about the hurdles we all face while we write. What is the hardest thing about writing?
The hardest thing is also the most simple! It all comes down to 1 word – discipline! I mentioned earlier how I have a standing appointment with myself to write every Saturday morning, whether I feel like it or not, whether I’m having so-called writer’s block or not! Aristotle said “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence therefore is not an act, but a habit!” Obviously, a strong commitment to see one’s work through to completion should be a given!
Thanks Alan for this valued thought and tip I’m sure all our author friends would surely benefit. So kindly let our readers know where would your walk proceed from here.
I mean your future projects?
I’m currently writing a book that is a celebration of womanhood globally. Women are as diverse as the stars in the sky, yet they are irrevocably united by one word – woman! In addition to covering the challenges that women have had to confront and overcome as far back as the Garden of Eden, 7 outstanding women are highlighted, everyone a heroine in her own right, including a bi-gender beauty, a feminist Muslim that defies the present day stereotype in certain circles and a dynamo who headed up the retail division for Apple in the Orient.
That is interesting and challenging. What formats is your book available?
The Walk is available through Amazon in both paperback as well as Kindle versions in the United States and India. My Weekly Walk is available through Amazon in both formats in the United States and Kindle only in India.

Thank you very much Rabbi.
I prefer calling you Rabbi instead of Alan no specific reason though just because Rabbi sounds good. Thanks again for taking the time out of your busy schedule and being a part of A living series talk.
It was absolutely amazing and great to hear from you.
I wish you abundance of success for your future plans and projects.
Keep smiling keep shining.
