I love interviewing debutant Authors about their books, their thoughts and stories, because their advice and path of publications and writing books is a road map for others who seek to get published –
Today we have the pleasure of interviewing Writer, Blogger, Corporate Manager who has
authored a very heart touching novel “Together with you forever” with us on A living series talk.
Born in Mumbai, India, in 1959, Nilesh Chogle, grew up in the main city of Girgaum and then in the western suburbs of Vileparle.
He accomplished careers in Finance, Foreign Trade, Procurement and SCM, serving in leading Pharmaceutical MNCs. Right from his childhood, he garnered a dream of becoming an accomplished fine-artist and a creative writer. However, as it would had to be, he realized that he must end the daily chores of his rigourous livelihood dilemma.
He scripted himself to becoming one of those English language writers in India. After learning the art and craft of creative writings, he embarked on a journey to prove his writing skills and abilities.
Ripe scenes from India, and his journeys to foreign lands, and his own creative and observant mind, has given him an edge to witness life differently. He is also a vivid photographer, fine artist , sketcher and painter. He has also studied astrology and palmistry, to suit his interest needs. He loves to sing nostalgic Hindi numbers, both pop and semi-classical from the golden era of Hindi film industry.
I’m so very fortunate to have the opportunity to meet this amazing debutant author so let’s begin.
Hi, Nilesh, thank you for agreeing to this interview I’m so very fortunate to have the opportunity to meet you and talk to you.
Welcome to A living series talk
It’s my pleasure Inderjit. Thank you for having me in your virtual front room.
As mentioned in the intro I’ve already setup the chords to our readers who are waiting to hear more about Author Nilesh Chogle please tell us a little bit more about yourself?
Well, I was never a writer. In fact, I wrote some essays and articles during my college education for the College Magazine way back in the 70’s. I was a Corporate Manager till late and have worked over 30+ years in various Pharmaceutical MNCs pursuing varied jobs from Finance to Foreign Trade Specialist, to Supply Chain and Procurement. I called it a day, one day to pursue my passion, and latent talents, like Creative Writings, Fine Art, Sketching, Painting, Music and learning the art and craft of Astrology and Palmistry.
I am married to yet another Corporate Manager who is established in her profession in a Government organization in the Oil & Gas sector. I have a 20 year young daughter who is doing her Bachelors Degree in Management from Mumbai University.
Wow fantastic! I’m pleased to hear that you are a blend of writer, painter, musician, astrology too many chords it’s just amazing.
I’m impressed and I’m sure our readers are surprised as well. Which writers inspire you?
You know, Inderjit, I am a big time reader. But I have always read non-fiction. Dale Carnegie was my first love, and later Bertrand Russel, Stephen Covey, Robin Sharma and Deepak Chopra, to name a few of them. Since, I have not read much of fiction, I can say writers like E.M.Foster, Charles Dickens, and among the Indian Best Sellers of course Chetan Bhagat, Ravinder Singh, Preeti Shenoy , Ravi Subramanian, Amish Tripathi.
Hmm! That’s a good list of inspirational authors I find many of mine favourite indexed here as well. Amish Tripathi the shiva trilogy he’s become national craze isn’t it. Well moving on further let our readers know what’s the summary or the message of your book and what have you written?
Oh! You will be surprised, I have written a ‘ fiction novel’. You see, I always feel that knowledge is to be shared. It multiplies. So I went about writing my own varied experiences, my observations while traveling on my corporate job both within the country and abroad, wherever I have been.
Writing is satisfying and I feel fulfilled by doing what I love to do I have put across a story along the path of Mumbai, during the floods in 2005. I have written about love and romance in the times of devastation, like in the genre of books like ‘Love in the times of Cholera by Gabriel Marquez’, and ‘A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway’.
But my Novel is not all about love and romance. I have set to deal with subjects like dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, in the present century, and in that respect, an eye-opener to the world about this melancholic disease, which is spreading like cancer and other terminal illnesses. You must have read the book ‘Still Allice by Lisa Genova’, which became an Oscar Winning Film later acted by Julian Moore. Although my novel is not exactly like Still Alice, it still belongs to a similar genre, as well.
Nilesh thanks for sharing your thoughts here on this awesome heart touching book
‘Together with you forever’ –
A compassionate love story
and you’ve successfully crafted this daunting love story between the characters and also related the issues of dementia that’s just incredible I must admit it touched my heart.
Well let us talk about creative writing, do you write full-time or part-time? Do you work for an online or plot or do you prefer to just see where an idea takes you?
Well that’s very simple to answer. I write full time.
I do visualize a theme, or a plot, but I allow crude ideas to flow and develop characters and places to merge while creating a plot. In the beginning, I have a faint idea of my book, but as I start planting, the plot becomes clear, as my characters start dictating the course of events. That way, I feel it becomes easier and I have never faced a writer’s block. I move developing the story smoothly and making it as interesting and expecting as I would love any story to be.That has now become my predominant style of writing. Although, I am on the look out of many more methods of writing and endeavor to learn with an open mind.
Thanks, for this information Nilesh. Let’s talk about the writers dilemma touching the core facts of writing and writers, let our readers get to know your thoughts on writers being solitary?
While I feel a lot of reading and researching goes into writing a new book, fiction or non-fiction, I love to write by myself. But I never feel distracted by the activities going on around me. Of course, my family knows that I am writing, so they make the least noise and allow me my private writing moments. I love to share what I am writing to my family, that way, I get an instant feedback, whether I am doing a good job or not. They are, in fact, my first listening readers, so to say. And of course, they are very patient.
That’s a great thought Nilesh
so what are your future projects?
Well, presently, I am working to develop another love and romance novel in the context of premonition of a youngster. It is a bit difficult topic, I have been selected. I am into reading a lot for that, as I am a perfectionist and want to be as accurate as possible in occult thoughts as well. Later, I have plans to come out with one non-fiction novel, as well, but those are just thoughts.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and I wish abundance of success for your future projects.
